Drywall Patch
There can be more to drywall patching than meets the eye - depending on the finish and/or texture that we are trying to match we may need to go from wall to wall and floor to ceiling with a new skim coat prior to texture to make a patch completely disappear. Much like wood floors that are sanded and finished in place, it can be difficult and sometimes impossible to just blend a patch in the middle of a wall. If a standard spray texture or a cottage texture / imperfect smooth wall has been used it will be much easier to blend and match in most cases. Another factor is how many times the wall has been painted - the texture could match identically with the old texture but if the old texture has 2 or 3 or more layers of paint on it then the new texture with only a primer and one coat of paint will not match perfectly.
